SMARC Module with Rockchip RK3399K Arm processor from Kontron

The new SMARC-fA3399 module from Kontron will use the Rockchip RK3399K Arm® processor to achieve the best price performance ratio in high performance image processing and AI applications.

The new module with 6 cores derived from an energy saving dual-core Arm® Cortex®-A72 and quad-core Cortex®-A53 has the highest available performance compared to price.

SMARC 2.1 is the third generation of SMARC modules and is specifically designed to take advantage of the latest functionality, flexibility and high-speed performance offered by microprocessors from Rockchip, NXP, Intel etc.

SMARC 2.1 new features:

SerDes signal support for increased Ethernet connectivity

Additional MDIO interface

Further GPIOs

New power and sleep domains

PCI Express® Clock Request Signals

Additional Camera Interfaces

JTAG connector refinement

MIPI CSI Fill order changes

Improved documentation

The new SMARC 2.1 features, combined with the power of the Rockchip RK3399K, will have particular relevance for engineers designing video and display systems. HDMI2.0 4K display and 4K H.264/H.264 is now possible in a compact low power format and the addition of MIPI CSI 2.0 / 3.0 on an additional connector allows up to 4 camera inputs for applications such as drones, driverless vehicles, remote monitoring and healthcare. The T860 MP GPU 3D graphics engine with support of OpenGL, OpenCL, and DirectX should provide enough graphic manipulation capability for your most demanding display needs, and in language you understand.

Kontrontm continues to commit to the development of new SMARC based computer on modules, introducing not only the Rockchip variant, but also modules based on the latest generation Intel Atom® and NXP iMX 8 processors. Starter kits and evaluation carrier cards are available and full support is provided by Kontron’s experienced product support group.
