Anevia Powers Skytels Next Generation of Platform Expansion for its Multiscreen TV Service

Mongolian telecommunication service provider Skytel Group is expanding its operations with additional investment in solutions from Anevia, a leading provider of OTT and IPTV software.

Based in Ulaanbaatar, the group provides a wide range of capabilities including telecom service and mobile and fixed broadband data connectivity.

Skytel has partnered successfully with Anevia since 2014, when the group’s Skymedia corporation subsidiary chose Anevia’s origin-packager and CDN solutions as the core of its OTT and IPTV platform. This was expanded in 2019 with a phase 2 project including latest-generation Anevia packagers plus NEA-DVR® viewer-programmable cloud-based recording, NEA-CDN® caching solution, and Anevia Genova encoders. The combined result was a complete system powering Skymedia’s SkyGo service.

“Anevia has provided excellent service and fabulous product and technology, which contributed greatly to our business expansion and growth,” says Narantuya Dash, Skytel CEO. “The high efficiency of Anevia’s CDN solution plus the fast content delivery made possible by Anevia’s low- latency technology have contributed to our steady expansion and enabled us to sustain a high level of customer satisfaction. Anevia has fulfilled our customers’ demands and continues to advance its technology to meet the needs of our rapidly expanding OTT services.

Skytel’s forthcoming expansion will provide greater capacity to accommodate a surge in the number of its OTT and IPTV subscribers, combined with a widening choice of guided content. It will include extra encoders, extended NEA-DVR cloud-based recording facilities, greater use of NEA-CDN caching solution – with a migration to the latest elastic version – plus NEA-CDN Analytics.

“The ever-increasing popularity of internet-streamed video and audio media has reached the point where OTT viewing is practically the new normal,” adds Anevia CEO Laurent Lafarge. “We are pleased that Skytel continues to appreciate the excellence of our technology and the dedication of our support colleagues.”
